I work with a number of job candidates every year on resume writing. I usually ask them to provide a list of workplace accomplishments at each employer listed on their resume, and in return, I get blank stares and long pauses. “Oh, man…that is tough. I have to think back…,” they say. While sometimes we can recount our career achievements, it becomes increasingly more difficult as time passes. Therefore, it is important throughout your career to “journal” your accomplishments–keeping them fresh in your mind and using them in future job searches.
